Spectating has become a full-time job in and of itself\u2014 looking at other people\u2019s LinkedIn pages, their Facebook page, their Wikipedia page\u2014 and now we judge ourselves too often by what we haven\u2019t done, instead of what we have.<\/p>\n
And so by age 30, if we haven\u2019t done X, Y or Z, we\u2019re left unfilled. There seems like there\u2019s so much life out to be lived, and we\u2019re called to it\u2026 whatever \u2018it\u2019 is.<\/p>\n

Now, it\u2019s almost assumed that whatever it is that you\u2019re doing, you must love it. Otherwise you wouldn\u2019t be answering email at midnight and sleeping with your phone in your bed.<\/p>\n
So as you get older, and have spent years plugged into this matrix where everything is work work work\u2014 where your mind is never able to turn off\u2014 you age a lot<\/strong>. Maybe not in physical years, like in the sense that you\u2019re 60.<\/strong> But you\u2019re 30 and you\u2019ve somehow managed to squeeze double the amount of work into that period of time.<\/strong><\/p>\n
You\u2019re old. Mentally.<\/p>\n

So being unsettled and wanting more out of life is not a millennial problem or a hipster problem or a \u2018whatever new word marketers are using to describe young people\u2019 problem. It\u2019s really a problem of being \u2018plugged in\u2019 all the time, and never being given the freedom to shut off.<\/p>\n
Because society has a problem with leisure. The idea of sitting around doesn\u2019t sound sexy. Winners never quit. Go hard or go home. Always be closing. Or some shit like that.<\/p>\n

You need a break. Just retire. Then start on something new. You may fail. But ultimately you\u2019ll thank yourself later<\/p>\n
